The International Geography Olympiads are held under the auspices of the International Geographical Union (IGU), through the IGU Olympiad Task Force. From July 31st to August 6th, the 15th International Geography Olympiad will be held in Quebec City on the campus of the Université Laval and in the surrounding region. With some 50 different countries expected to participate, iGeo 2018 will be an exciting opportunity to appreciate the diverse peoples and landscapes that make up our world. The Olympiad will be highlighted by multiple cultural events, a poster presentation session, and a faunal concert emphasising sustainable development. The iGeo gold medal ceremony will take place at the Quebec City Conference Centre during the opening ceremonies of the IGU-CAG-NCGE Congress.

The 10th GIScience conference will be held from August 28th to August 31st in Melbourne, Australia. The conference regularly brings together more than 300 international participants from academia, industry, and government to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art in geographic information science.

A call for contributions is currently open for full papers and extended abstracts.

The deadline for submitting a full paper is February 16th.
The deadline for submitting an extended abstract is April 30th.

The ISPRS Technical Commission IV Symposium 2018 will be held in Delft, The Netherlands, from October 1st to October 5th, 2018. The ISPRS Technical Commission IV symposium highlights the work of the commission aiming to bring together researchers, professionals and users to discuss, exchange ideas, and demonstrate new developments. The 5th International Workshop on Compressed Sensing applied to Radar, Multimodal Sensing and Imaging will be held at the University of Siegen, Germany, from September 10th to September 13th, 2018. The workshop will welcome world-class scientists, engineers and educators engaged in the fields of Compressive Sensing (CS) with a wide scope of applications to Radar, optical and nonoptical 2D/3D imaging, material analysis, surface and subsurface inspection by ultrasonic, microwave, TeraHertz as well as X-ray techniques.

In the context of the ACM SIGAPP Symposium On Applied Computing (SAC 2018), which will be held April 9th-13th 2018, in France, a call for paper has been launched for the track Knowledge Extraction from Geographical Data.

The 2018 International Geographical Union Regional Conference will be held at the Québec City Convention Centre, from August 6th to August 10th, 2018.

Under the theme Appreciating Difference, the conference will bring reflections and exchanges on the diversity of our contemporary world and on the challenges related to it. Of course this diversity is not in itself a threat, as environmental dangers, technological risks or climate change can be, but a useful resource still waiting to reveal its full potential. Among the questions that could be discussed, let us mention:

• human relations to Nature and their cultural, technological and political mediation;
• social dynamics within multilingual or multicultural political entities;
• current reality of native communities;
• regionalism in the era of globalization;
• the impact, cost and politics of environmental and climatic changes, and
• human migrations of any scale and any causes that recompose the social mosaic anywhere in the world.
