GeoComputation 2017, the 21st edition of this international conference, will be held in Leeds, UK, from September 4th to September 7th, 2017.

The call for extended abstracts is open until April 10th.
The conference themes are :

The Convergence Network Director named Chief Editor of Geomatica

The Canadian Institute of Geomatics (CIG) is happy to announce that Dr. Mir Abolfazl Mostafavi is the new chief Editor of its journal, Geomatica.
Dr. Mostafavi brings extensive and diverse experience in geomatics and with publications and will lead the Geomatica publication team over the next few years.

Call for short papers – Pre-conference workshop of the 20th AGILE International Conference on Geographic Information Science 2017

Under the theme Bridging space, time, and semantics in GIScience, you are invited to submit a short paper to the Pre-conference workshop of the 20th AGILE International Conference on Geographic Information Science 2017. The workshop will be held on May 9th, in Wageningen, The Netherlands.

Deadline for submission: Ferbuary 28th, 2017.

The topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to: 

  • Cognitive aspects of spatiotemporal concepts

Research and innovation mission in Ontario

The Québec Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation invites key participants from the information and communication technologies sector, interested in the Ontario market, to participate in a research and innovation mission in Ontario. Book Series “Observation des surfaces continentales par télédétection”

The French version of the book series Land Surface Remote Sensing, Observation des surfaces continentales par télédétection is now available from ISTE Editions.

This series is designed for those who wish to discover or intensify their knowledge of remote sensing applied to continental surfaces. Each book of this series contains a dozen chapters.

This series is the result of a rich collaboration with world-class researchers in different topics including Canadians co-authors. The editors are the two researchers Nicolas Baghdadi (PhD) and Mehrez Zribi (PhD).

Sustainable urban planning

New project related to sustainable buildings funded by IC-IMPACTS

The Network of Centers of Excellence IC-IMPACTS (India-Canada Centre for Innovative Multidisciplinary Partnerships to Accelerate Community Transformation and Sustainability) announced the funding of a project that will study the linkages between the Urban Heat Island effect and building energy demand. This 2-year project will allow for the deployment of low-cost sensor networks for detecting urban heat islands and the development of a model linking the intensity of those islands and urban morphology.

Two Convergence Network members are part of the project: Mir Abolfazl Mostafavi and Steve Liang.

Call for Presentation CIDCO Conference 2017

CIDCO Conference 2017 is the fourth edition of this biennial event. It will be held in Rimouski from May 8 to 10, 2017.

The 2017 CIDCO conference includes a call for presentations on state of the art research and applications in hydrography. It will also include an education and capacity building focus.

The call for presentation focuses on the following topics:

• Hydrography in support of integrated coastal zone management, port management and offshore industrial applications
• Inland water hydrography (rivers, lakes, dams) and underwater inspection
• Remote sensing bathymetry, including AUV, Airborne LiDAR, and satellite imagery systems
• Innovation in autonomous bathymetry (ASV, AUV)
• Innovation in positioning and water level measurements
• Tide and separation models
• Innovation in bathymetric data processing
• Education, capacity building
• Nautical and inland charting

The presentation duration is 20 minutes.

The deadline for submissions is January 20th 2017.

Special Sessions EO Summit 2017
