 Health Geomatics Innovations

On October 8, as part of GeoConference 2014, the Convergence Network hosted a day of conferences on the latest research and innovations in health geomatics. This event has gathered more than 30 participants from academia, industry and government. This day was the unique opportunity to showcase the significant contributions of geomatics in the health field. Environmental health, accessibility, mobile biometrics, Internet of Things and its impact on health were among the themes explored.

Workshop on LiDAR

Discussions on the LiDAR theme, initiated in July, continued on October 7 and new participants joined the discussion. Topics discussed include: LiDAR data sharing and accessibility and automatic data extraction and modeling. Also, continuous LiDAR training and maintaining knowledge exchange between France and Québec (with  Pôle THEIA) are considered.

This workshop report and the previous are available in the member area. (In French only)

New on the Website!

A new section is being built on our Website. The Innovation and transfer page will be dedicated to the promotion and development of research and innovation. It will be divided into 3 sections; Incubation projects, ongoing projects and completed projects ready for adoption. The first section will describe the Network initiatives for setting up new projects (e.g. thematic workshops). The second section will present research projects currently undertaken by the Convergence Network researchers. Their presentation aims to:

• raise awareness of the activities and expertise of Network members
• stimulate discussion and initiate new partnerships
• promote and accelerate knowledge transfer and ownership of results by users

Finally, the last section presents completed research with high application potential for which a technology transfer project (with matching funds) would fill the gap between completion of research and technology adoption by end- users.

WE NEED YOU!

Obviously, we can’t complete this section without your help. You'll be asked individually to send us information about your projects (current or completed). You also can download the form to submit information about your completed projects!

Want to promote your project in this section? Contact us!

A crowded booth!
The Convergence Network coordination team was at the Envision Geomatics Conference on November 12 and 13 at the Palais des congrès of Gatineau Our booth was extremely popular, thanks to an augmented reality sandbox !
We were there!

The team was also at Québec Mines, from november 17 to 20 , at the Quebec city convention centre. Our booth was part of the Innovation section, besides several companies from the optics-photonics industry.
